Apple Inc., originally incorporated as Apple Computer, Inc. in 1977, is the maker of the Apple II and Macintosh computers as well as the iPhone and iPad, among other products. Apple switched its Macintosh line to a UNIX-based operating system (first named Mac OS X, then OS X, and as of this writing macOS- Apple seems to have a hard time choosing names to stick with these days), which is largely compatible with GNU/Linux software. Apple also makes iOS for its mobile platforms.
